THAT'S RIGHT! We're having a project at CL! The theme is "what I did for my summer vacation." Did you ever have to write one of those essays in school? *thumbs through essays from 2nd-6th grades* If not, don't worry, it's pretty self explanitory.

So, here are the requirements:

1. You can submit both wallpapers and vectors
2. You can submit as many as you want
3. All work must feature vacation-themed artwork
--AND--
4. SOMEWHERE ON YOUR WORK MUST BE A LITTLE ESSAY ABOUT WHAT YOU DID ON YOUR SUMMER VACATION!

Now, there are lots of ways to do this. You could pick a character and wall/vector a vacation scene and put some text on the wall that says "I'm Sakura Kinomoto, and this is me at the water park" or you could do a scene from first person, as if YOU were the character in the image, like "For my summer vacation I went to Tahiti but when I woke up on the beach I was missing my bathing suit." How much or how little text is up to you, but it must include the words "on my summer vacation" and must be more than just the title of the piece. Ex: if the title of your wall is "Summer Sun" you can't just put "Summer Sun--What I did on my summer vacation" you'd need to do something along the lines of "Laying out in the sun and working on my tan--that's what I did on my summer vacation." How and where you position the text is up to you. Get creative! This is one arena where you could do something cutesy without ruining your reputation as a serious artist.

Okay, more details:

--post your art in the CL guestbook and put in your post that it's a submission for the project
--entries will be accepted until 8/31/08
--entries will be posted on the group page in the "contests" section
--this should be obvious, but you must follow the MT rules for your artwork
--if we get a lot of good entries and there is interest, I'll host a gallery online of just our project pieces

Some suggestions for vacation scenes:

the beach
an amusement park
camping
picnicking
horse-back riding
boating
sun bathing
partying
sleeping (my fav summer activity)
swimming
hanging with friends
visiting family
touring different places (foreign countries, cities, museums, etc)

--really, if you think it's something you would do on summer vacation, it's probably good. If you're unsure just ask. I'm going to have to say that if snow is the main focus of the activity, it's not qualified for the project.

This inevitably comes up: you can use a piece in this project that you're using in another project or contest.

About Celestial Luminesse

Description and Purpose

-Celestial Luminesse is a group specifically created for wallers and their wallpapers/vector art. We currently aren't accepting doujinshi right now, but maybe in the future. ^-^ vector art can be submitted, but cannot be put into the gallery since we want to keep the gallery organized.
-Since alterlier asked...Celestial Luminesse has nothing to do with brightness and celestial-ness. I just named the group Celestial Luminesse because I liked the sound of it.
-The purpose of CL is to help beginners become better wallers and to promote the artwork of experienced wallers as well. The most important thing is to have fun!

Rules

Guidelines to follow

Like any other group, CL has some rules that you need to follow too! I'll try to keep them as simple and straightforward as possible.

1. Submit all your new entries into the guestbook as soon as possible. You don't have to do it 1 second after you submit it to MT, but at least try to get it into the guestbook within a week of submission. Below is the code you need to use when submitting your artwork into the CL guestbook. Just remember to replace the hearts with your gallery item number (you'll see the # when you look at the URL of your MT submission)

2. Artwork submitted into the guestbook MUST be a wallpaper or a vector. No scans or other forms of art allowed.
3. Ripping isn't allowed..>.> you should already know that if you read the MT policy
4. Be courteous to other members. No racism, spamming, swearing, etc. (bad manners) are allowed
5. It would be nice if you could put this in your signature. However, it is not mandatory so its your choice whether you want to put it in or not.

Okay, when adding erika as an admin, I noticed just how many aspirant members were waiting for an upgrade. o_0 So, I'd like to ask someone to be our new moderator. In the past, Liz (thingperson) updated the members list and invited talented artists to join CL. I'd love for someone to assume that responsibility!
